Robert LeRoy "Dutch" KimmelJan. 15, 1927 - Feb. 9, 2009Robert LeRoy "Dutch" Kimmel, 82, of Albany passed away Monday.He was born in Hershey, Penn., to Max W. Kimmel and Miriam C. Hollin Kimmel.  He was a retired International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers highline men.  He married Florence E. Kirk in 1990 on St. Patrick's Day.  A 32 Degree Mason and brother of the Scottish Rite which he was extremely proud of.  Dutch was also a member of the local American Legion and Fraternal Order of the Eagles and enjoyed his numerous friends over the years.  A person with a great heart, he was active in community events like the children's benefit action of 1992. In his leisure time he enjoyed deep sea fishing and gardening.Robert is survived by his wife, Florence of Albany; son John Kimmel of San Antonio, Texas; daughters Katherine Amidon of Portland, Cheri Richardson of Yakima, Wash., April Dorey of Boise, Idaho, and Melody Kimmel of Ashland, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.He was preceded in death by his father, Max; mother Miriam; and brother John.We welcome you to  come and celebrate the life of a great man at 1 p.m. March 7 at the American Legion in Albany.  AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling the arrangements ( www.aasum-dufour.com ).
