Bob Keppinger, 84, of Albany passed away on Friday at his home.
Bob was born in Gervais to Wesley A. and Esther A. (Gleason) Keppinger. He grew up in Gervais and graduated from Gervais High School in 1947. Bob worked in farming and at the plywood mill in Adair before being drafted in the U.S. Army in January of 1951. Bob served as an ordnance man in Germany and was honorably discharged in December of 1952. He and Audrey Nielsen were pen pals while he was in the service and they married on June 23, 1956, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albany. Bob went to work for Duraflake and retired after 33 1/2 years of service in.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing trips to Canada with wife Audrey, working in his yard and building just about anything you could imagine out of scrap wood. He also was a flagger for Willamette Valley Team Penning Association.
Bob is survived by son Dan J. Keppinger and daughter Barbara K. Semmel, both of Albany; brothers Norman and wife Shirley of Hillsboro, and Ronald Keppinger of Silverton; and sister Lenora 'Ducky' Cutsforth of Gates.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Audrey; brother Donald; and sister Betty Cawrse.
A visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, and a funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at the funeral home with a graveside to follow at Gervais Masonic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SafeHaven Humane Society or Linn Benton Hospice in care of the funeral home.
