Roland Hoyle Smith
1943 - 2016
Born in Slaton, Texas, in 1943 to William and Thelma Smith, he and his family moved to Campbell, California, in 1945 for a year and then moved to Corvallis where they found a good life.
Roland graduated from Corvallis as a proud Spartan in 1961. They he graduated from beauty school in 1963. He moved to Colorado Springs one year later to start his new career as a hair stylist. He returned home to Oregon in 1973 where he started Mars Salon which soon became the House of Hoyle. This lasted for a long time. Then in 1983 he started Pizzazz.
He was very civic minded and loved his family. He was a true voice of reason.
He is survived by son Chad; daughter Shellene; sister Charlene; nephew Joe; niece Heather; grandkids Tiffany, Joshua, Shawna and Logan; nine great-grandkids; and his significant other, Teresa.
He was a true man of faith. A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, at Albany Riverside Baptist Church, 1300 Spring Hill Drive N.W., Albany. Wear your Beaver gear per Roland's wishes.
