Obituary

Ron Campbell of Albany passed away Friday at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House with his family by his side.

Ron was born in Joplin, Missouri to Earl and Nellie Campbell. He grew up in Coos Bay, Oregon and worked for the US Department of Forestry where he became permanently disabled in the late seventies. He married Judy Hay on 9/25/1970 and they had a son, Russell Campbell. Ron and Judy divorced in 1983 after 13 years of marriage. In 2000 he moved to Albany to be closer to his family due to health issues. A short time later he moved in with his son and daughter-in-law to take care of him. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, shuffleboard and pool. He was also a member of the Coos Bay Eagles for years.

Ron is survived by his son Russ and daughter-in-law Sherri Campbell of Albany; Stepson Mark Kerner of Salem; brother Clayton Campbell of Marcola; Grandchildren Cody Campbell, Zac Edwards, Harley Campbell, Sabrina Swanson, Shelly Averill, Mark Kerner, Jr. and Travis Reece, all of Albany; Kandy Hogle of Toledo; Amanda Terwilliger of Washington and Marilyn Thompson of Siletz. Ron had several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his twin brother Robert and step-daughter Pamela Kerner.

A celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29th at Bryant Park under the gazebo by the river. Everyone who knew him is invited for a potluck BBQ.
