Ronald Brunson
October 2, 1939 - March 24, 2016
Ronald Melvin Brunson, 76, went quietly to be with his Lord and Savior on March 24th at Evergreen Hospice House. Ron was born in LA to Vivian "Mike" and Neva May (Marchbank) Brunson. He moved to Albany in 1948.
Ron was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. He was willing to help anyone in need. Ron's faith guided his actions and his life. He was a member of the First Assembly of God. He and Donna went on many missionary building trips. One of his and Donna's most special trips was in 2010 to Israel, where they were both baptized in the Jordan River.
Ron joined the army in 1958. He returned home to Albany in 1961. He married Donna Jean Raymond on September 7, 1962. He worked for Taylor-Johnson Motor Co., SmokeCraft, and lastly JamesRiver and Pope and Talbot until he retired.
Ron loved drag racing, scuba diving, and golf. He camped with his family in the early years. Later, he and Donna were members of the NW Foretravel Motorcade club. They traveled south each winter with their beloved dog, Annie, then Bella this year.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donna (Raymond) Brunson; his four children, Kathleen Russell, Jim Brunson, Kristina Schone, and John Brunson; and 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Charles Brunson and Bill Brunson. Surviving siblings are Bruce Brunson (Woodland, WA), George Brunson (Lebanon), Robert Brunson (Millersburg), Annie Stryker (Albany), Joyce Isenhart (Albany), and Janice Gupton (Albany).
A viewing will be held at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home from 3-5 p.m. on Friday. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 2, at the First Assembly of God in Albany.
