Ronald Layne Kraft, 69, known as "Ron" or "Ronny," passed away Monday at Timberview Care Center.
Ron was born in Spokane, Wash., at Deaconess Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. John Merritt Kraft.
He grew up in Spokane and attended Lewis and Clark High School. In 1957 he joined the Army. After the Army he worked at Armour meat packing, then in 1963 he joined Kaiser aluminum and worked there as a brick mason until he retired in 1992.
Ron met his future wife, Barbara Anne, in 1963 and a short time later they were married in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Ronald and his wife had three boys, Raymond Lee, Michael Layne and Gary Layne. Ron is survived by his wife and two oldest sons, Ray and Mike. His youngest son, Gary, passed away in August 2009.
Ron is also survived by his grandchildren, Myranda Kraft, Gabi Spurrier, Nykolas Kraft, Daniel Restau and Heather Flood.
Ron enjoyed camping, fishing, golfing, hunting and working on older cars. Ron and his wife were members of a CB club for many years. Ron also enjoyed spending time with his family and the boat at Lake Roosevelt in Lincoln, Wash. For eight years after Ron and Barb sold their home in Spokane they traveled to Arizona for the winter.
Ron's last month of life was spent mostly with his wife and granddaughter Myranda. Barbara's most missed memory of her husband is dancing and partying with him.
He is dearly missed by all who were close to him.
Family services will be held at a later date.
