Obituary

Ronald Glen Walls, 57, died at home on Wednesday.

Ron was born to Glen and Rosalie Walls. At a young age Rosalie remarried Elza Gardner who was a loving father to Ron.

Ron grew up in City of Commerce, Calif., and graduated from Bell Gardens High School in 1971. On Sept. 29, 1973, he married Bethene "Beth" Sandberg in Redondo Beach, settling down in Torrance where they started their family.

While living in California, Ron worked at Onan Equipment, Hydril Oil Equipment Co. and was a semi-truck driver for several different companies.

In 1989, Ron and Beth relocated their family to Albany. His career path in Oregon consisted of working at Pepsi and Nypro in Corvallis and lastly Pioneer Telephone Company in Philomath.

Ron enjoyed camping with family and friends, riding motorcycles, off-roading with his 4x4, riding quads, boating, fishing and tinkering on cars and trucks in his shop.

Ron was a wonderful father who volunteered his time as Boy Scout leader and baseball coach. He taught his sons the importance of family, how to be compassionate for others and to help them regardless of their flaws and imperfections. He made sure his sons were introduced to all the things he knew and loved to do, making sure they had the opportunity to experience what their hearts desired. He instilled in them the love for the outdoors, water sports, mechanics and most of all his skill to keep things light and fun. All he did as a father, he did as a grandfather too.

He is survived by his wife, Beth; sons Clarence Walls and wife Evonne of Albany, and Ronny Walls and wife Shannon of Caldwell, Idaho; two grandchildren, Wyatt and Alyssa; two step grandchildren, Brittany and Kasey; sister Glenda Walls of Nevada; brother Gary Walls of California; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepparents.

A viewing will be from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday and a funeral service at 6 p.m. Friday. Both will be at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home in Albany. Following the service, a gathering in celebration of Ron's life will be at the Comfort Suites in Albany.

Ron was a loving husband, father and friend to many. The love for him runs deep and he will be missed beyond what words can describe.

AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling the arrangements ( www.aasum-dufour.com ).
