Obituary

Ruth Tudy (Harkey) Robinson, 80, went home to be with Jesus Tuesday at Clare Bridge in Salem.

She was born in Ashland the oldest of six children born to Celo Valentine Harkey and Elva Nellie (Garwood) Harkey.

Ruth grew up in Ashland and graduated from high school there. She married Charley Carrol Robinson on Nov. 10, 1949. Since Charley was in the Air Force they lived the first 20 years of marriage in various locations including Tacoma, Wash., England, Long Beach, Calif., Edwards AFB, Calif., Huntsville, Ala., and Dayton, Ohio. In 1970 they moved to Florence where they lived for 30 years. Finally in 2000 they moved to Albany.

Ruth was a homemaker. She loved to sew, knit and crochet along with garden and can. She especially loved to make quilts. Ruth became a Christian as a very young girl and served the Lord all her life. She belonged to an Assemblies of God church wherever she lived, the last being Albany First Assembly of God. She was actively involved in church and various ministries over the years including Sunday school teacher, choir and women's ministries. She really enjoyed participating in missions' projects making quilts, clothes and other handcrafted items in her pursuit to be of service to God and man.

Ruth was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by husband Charley on July 5, 2009, after almost 60 years of marriage.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Robert Campbell of Albany; son and daughter-in-law Doug and Laurie Robinson of Albany; son and daughter-in-law Wes and Sabrina Robinson of Castro Valley, Calif.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sister Nina Simpson of Medford.

There will be a memorial celebration service for Ruth at 1 p.m. Friday, March 16, at Albany First Assembly of God.

At the family's request, any contributions should be made to the Albany First Assembly of God mission's fund. Her cremated remains will be scattered together with Charley's by the family.
