Ruth Lucille Shank April 3, 1931 - December 24, 2022

Ruth Lucille Shank, 91, of Lebanon, Oregon passed away Saturday, surrounded by family.

She was born in Wood River, Nebraska to Ira & Mary (Boshart) Stutzman. She was #9 of 11 children. The family moved to Oregon when she was 4 years old, in 1935.

She married Harold Shank on April 3, 1950. They made their first home in Nampa, Idaho for a year and then moved to Oregon and raised their family in the Albany, Corvallis, Philomath, and Lebanon communities.

She loved to read and was always busy crocheting doilies, table runners, tablecloths, coasters, and baby booties to give as gifts. She dearly loved being with her family whether it was with her siblings or children and grandchildren. Her favorite times were camping with family. She and Harold spent several winters in Arizona.

She worked as a nurse's aide at facilities located in Corvallis and Albany. She was one of the first to receive a Medicine Distribution license at the Mennonite Home in Albany, Oregon. While she was working full time and raising a family, she also canned various fruits and vegetables and a variety of meats. They lived on a poultry farm raising chickens for Fir Crest Farms which kept her more than busy. She was a member of the Lebanon Mennonite Church.

Ruth is survived by her children David (Carol) Shank of Siletz, OR, Diana (Patrick) Miller of Albany, OR, Carol (Galen) Troyer of Lebanon, OR, Rodney (Shelly) Shank of Lebanon, OR; Grandchildren Dawn (Kevin) Headings of Echo, OR, Benjamin (Erin) Shank of Bend, OR, Melissa (Tobiah) Halter of Wilsonville, OR, Timothy (Holly) Shank of Toledo, OR, Jody (Kevin) Konzelman of Albany, OR, Jason (Julie) Jackson of Fair Oaks, CA, Jordan Shank of Bend, OR, Cassandra (Brady) Nofziger of Lebanon, OR, Travis Miller of Salem, OR, Carter (Catherine) Shank of Lebanon, OR; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great - great grandchild; sisters Olivene Heyerly of Halsey, OR and Grace Martin of Denver, CO.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Harold Shank; sisters Mabel Heyerly, Alverda Lehman, Marie Schweitzer; brothers Rex Stutzman, Hubert Stutzman, Paul Stutzman, Pearl Stutzman, Larry Stutzman; and her parents.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to the Lebanon Mennonite Church with designation "Local Outreach."

A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m on Friday, December 30. at Lebanon Mennonite Church, private burial will take place at Fairview Mennonite Cemetery.
