Obituary

Sallie Sabra Bose, 92, of Albany went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday evening while surrounded by family.

Sallie was born in Cullowhee, N.C., the daughter of John and Emma Hooper and was raised there on their farm. After graduating as salutatorian of her high school class, she attended Western Carolina Teacher's College for two years and then graduated from Duke University in 1942.

Sallie became a registered medical technologist and held jobs in North Carolina, Missouri, Kentucky, Florida and finally in Oregon at Salem General Hospital. She was a member of a Salem hiking club, The Chemeketans, and successfully climbed to the summits of four Northwest peaks: Mount Hood, Mout Adams, Mout Thielsen and Mount Whitney.

In the fall of 1957 she was introduced to Harry C. Bose and they were married six months later on June 7, 1958. Sallie joined Harry on his farm in Albany and enjoyed her new life as a farmer's wife and mother as they started a family right away. After her husband passed away in 1970, she managed the farm for two years.

Sallie enjoyed the outdoors and spending time in her flower gardens and was a member of the Sunshine Circle & Garden Club for many years. She was also a longtime member of Calvary Community Church.

Survivors include sons Harry Bose of Pendleton, Andrew Bose of Albany and Byron Bose of Scio; brother James Hooper of Culowhee, N.C.; sister Ruth Fuson of Knoxville, Tenn.; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Bose; sisters Hazel Lewis and Juanita Levi; and brothers Eugene and Edward Hooper.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb 18, at Calvary Community Church, 35764 Knox Butte Road in Albany. A private graveside service will be at Willamette Memorial Park prior to the memorial service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Smile or Calvary Community Church (Ecuador Mission Team), and can be sent in care of AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home, 805 Ellsworth St. S.W., Albany, OR 97321.
