Shay Leota Dakan, 68, of Albany passed away Saturday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.
Shay was born in Kansas City, Mo., to James and Ethna (Logan) Stanton. She grew up in San Francisco, Calif., and graduated from Mission High School in 1961. She married Robert Leo Dakan in 1977.
Shay worked as the director of network services at Oregon State University and retired in 2011. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and OSU Football. Shay was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Shay is survived by son, David A. Taghon of Albany; brother Don and wife Mary Stanton of Downey, Calif.; sister Rosa Conlan of West Linn; and grandchildren Emily Taghon of Hubbard and Eli Taghon of Oregon City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dakan; daughter Desiree Taghon.
A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albany.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cervical Cancer Coalition in care of the funeral home.
