With great sadness, we announce the passing of our loving mother and wife, Sheryl Hiltz.  Sheryl was born on February 15, 1941, to Floyd and Wilma Mathis in Converse, South Carolina.  She passed peacefully on January 28, 2024. Just shy of her 83rd birthday.

Sheryl was a devoted and loving mother to three children: Joe "Eddie" Price, Marissa Horan and Alison Hodges.  Ed preceded her in death in 2022.  She was admired and loved by her grandchildren; Michael Price, Sara Price and Matt Price, Sean Horan, Chris Hodges, Kenny Hodges and Brie Hodges; along with her great grandchildren: Danny and Craig Fick.

Sheryl came to live in Albany, Oregon in her twenties but never lost her southern accent or flair for southern food.  She worked as a waitress at the Bamboo Terrace Restaurant in Albany for over 20 years.

She met her current husband, Howard Hiltz, when he was invited to share Thanksgiving dinner with our family. They soon married and were married for 16 years until the day of her passing. She and Howard loved to travel and visited more than half of the United States together.  Their family home was a place where children and grandchildren gathered to visit during the holidays. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and their home was always decorated with trees and twinkling lights several weeks before Christmas.

She loved to cook for her family, spend time in her flower garden, and was known for her many house plants and impeccable house cleaning.

Most of all she was loved by her family and instilled in her children strong values, a love for the Lord and a great work ethic.  All of these things have allowed her and her children to serve others well.

A celebration of Sheryl's life will be held at AAsum Funeral Home on February 15, 2024, at 11 am.
