Shirley E. GlendinningJan. 10, 1918 - July 2, 2008Shirley E. Glendinning, 90, of Albany, died Wednesday at the Mennonite Home.She was born in Brownsville to Graham and Maybelle Silk. They moved to Albany when Shirley was 1 year old. Shirley attended schools in Albany and graduated from Albany High School in 1936.In 1950 she married Robert "Bob" Glendinning.Shirley worked for Bell Telephone as an operator and then moved up to office manager.She enjoyed family and friends, needlework, playing pool, traveling to the coast and covered bridges and was very involved with family gatherings.Shirley is survived by sister Alice Kropp Westbrook of Albany; nephew Richard Kropp of Newport; niece Jo Ellen Hromas of Albany; cousin Delores Wilson of Eugene; great-nieces Leslie Cheney of Albany, Laurie Geissler of Albany, Brenda Lindsay of Forest Grove, and Gina Jantzi of Albany; great-nephews Graham Hromas and Grant Hromas both of Albany; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bob" Glendinning.A private service will be held at Willamette Memorial Park.
