Stanley Miller

Stan Miller, 82, passed away Wednesday. He was a long time resident of the Corvallis/Albany area.
He was born in Longview, Wash., to Robert and Floy (Stanley) Miller.
Stan served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in architectural engineering from California State Polytechnic in 1952. The same year he was united in marriage to Patricia Geer from London, Ore.
The couple moved to Albany in 1959 at which time he went into partnership with Chris Jeppsen to form Jeppsen and Miller Architects. They were later joined by Dick Tobias and became Jeppsen, Miller and Tobias Architects. The firm designed many local landmarks including Hoover Elementary, Cheldlin Junior High, Crescent Valley High School, Linn Benton Community College, Corvallis Episcopal Church and the Corvallis Elks Lodge.
Stan was a member of the Corvallis Rotary Club, Elks Club, American Legion, Willamette Valley Jazz Society and Traditional Jazz Society of Oregon. He was an avid golfer and a member of Springhill Country Club. His true passion was music. He was a percussionist with many local bands including the Albany Swing Band, the German Band, Melody Marauders and Willamette Valley Concert Band.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter Susie of Albany; son Russ; and grandchildren Sean, Heidi and Evan of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association, SafeHaven Human Society of the charity of choice.
