Stanley Lester SimeNov. 29, 1919 - March 7, 2010Stanley Lester Sime, 90, of Albany passed away Sunday at Timberwood Court in Albany.He was born in Revillo, S.D., the son of Ole Nickoli and Martha Marie ( Johnson) Sime. He was raised in Revillo and graduated from Revillo High School.Stanley enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe and was wounded in action in the Mediterranean theater in 1943. Stanley was given the Purple Heart and was discharged in October of 1945. He married Fae Irene Hunt in Madison, Minn. on Dec. 25, 1945, and they came to Albany in July of 1950. Stanley was a boiler operator for Simpson Timber Company for over 30 years, and he and Fae where charter members of Faith Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and involved with Habitat for Humanity. Stanley loved growing flowers and vegetables and sharing them with his family and friends and spending time in his workshop building all sorts of things from wood.He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Fae I. Sime of Albany; daughters Dianne Christensen of Eugene, Carol Olin and husband Art of Madras, and Leslie McReynolds of North Bend; son Kris Sime and wife Brenda of Omaha, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ernest, Norman, Roy, and Orman; sisters Alma Ludwig, Myrtle Beniga, and Olga Oie; and grandson Trevor Fox.A memorial service will scheduled at a future date.
