Obituary

Stuart Eldon Henshaw, 88, of Tangent passed away on Saturday, July 12, at Timberview Care Center.
Stuart was born in Albany to Glenn and Christa (Cox) Henshaw. He grew up in Albany and joined the Merchant Marines and was later drafted into the U.S. Navy. He served in the Navy from May of 1944 to June of 1946 as seaman 1st class on the USS LST.
After his honorable discharge, Stu married Lela M. Wilson on Feb. 4, 1949, in Albany and they had three children, then later divorced. Stuart then married Arlis A. Steinmeyer Winterstein in Jefferson on Oct. 15, 1965. He was an avid archery hunter and worked as a stone mason until he retired in 1987. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, The Sylvan Archers and the Old Time Fiddlers.
Stuart is survived by wife Arlis A. Henshaw of Tangent; son Dane E. Henshaw of Corvallis; daughter Dawn J. Henshaw of Corvallis; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Royal "Bud" Henshaw, Raliegh "Jack" Henshaw, and Glenn L. Jr. "Fred" Henshaw; and one son, Tim Henshaw.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. A private graveside was at Willamette Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
