Obituary

Taylor James Locke, left this world too soon on August 25, 2024, in Portland, Oregon. Born on December 1, 1993, to Richard and Mary Locke, Taylor's life was a vibrant journey cut short by undiagnosed diabetes at the age of 30.

From his early days, Taylor's infectious smile and boundless energy made him a beacon of light and joy in the lives of those around him. Growing up alongside his sister, Elizabeth, Taylor formed an unbreakable bond filled with cherished memories and shared dreams. The values instilled by his loving family shaped Taylor into a compassionate and driven individual, known for his generosity and willingness to help others.

Taylor had a love of learning and reading, and graduated from Marist High School in Eugene. He was a proud Oregon State Alumni with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and History. He went on to obtain a Masters of Arts in Legal and Forensic Psychology at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island, and worked for the Multnomah County Court.

Taylor's passion for life was evident in his many pursuits. He found solace in the beauty of Oregon's landscapes, often hiking and exploring the great outdoors, as well as skiing with his family and friends. He was an avid soccer player, music lover, and sports fan, and cheered on his Oregon State Beavers and Boston Celtics every time a game was on. Going to concerts for bands he loved are cherished memories with his family and friends. Taylor's adventurous spirit was matched only by his love of learning.

Though his departure from this world was unexpected, the legacy of Taylor James Locke remains a powerful testament to a life lived with purpose and love. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Charlotte Locke, and aunt, Kathleen Deeter-Manchester. He is survived by his parents, Richard and Mary Locke, sister Elizabeth Locke, grandparents Paul and Judy Deeter, great grandmother Shirley Jones, aunts and uncles David Locke (Karen dec.), Kerry Abbott (Tim), Daniel Deeter (Selena), Laura Arango (Salvador), partner, Leticia Navarro, along with many cousins, extended family members, and friends. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories that his family and friends will hold dear forever.

There will be a private viewing at AAsum-Dufour in Albany, Oregon. A funeral mass will be held on September 11, 2024 at 12:15 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eugene, Oregon. A reception will follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oregon State University Foundation ("OSU Foundation"), Psychology Scholars Award Fund, 4238 SW Research Way, Corvallis, OR 97333-1068 to continue Taylor's legacy of learning.

We bid farewell to a soul who, in his brief sojourn on earth, taught us the importance of cherishing every moment and loving without reserve. Taylor's memory will be carried forward in the stories we share and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
