Obituary

Terrill Trent Lykins, 47, born on January 15, 1977, in Silver City, New Mexico, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Albany, Oregon, on February 20, 2024.

Terrill "Trent" spent his childhood growing up in Washington and New Mexico.  He went on to join the Marine Corps after graduating from Deming High School in 1995.

After Marine boot camp, Trent went on to the School of Infantry to train as a field radio operator, then went on to become a rifleman and infantry squad leader.  During his years of service he was promoted to Sergeant and earned many awards for his bravery and service such as a Navy Unit Commendation with 2 bronze stars, Meritorious Unit Commendation with 2 bronze stars, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksman Badge, and Pistol Sharpshooter Badge. Trent also earned 6 letters of appreciation and 3 Meritorious Masts.  He loved the United States and the Marine brothers that he made.

Trent married Amy Melissa McFarland Lykins in 1998.  After his military service concluded, he was honorably discharged and went on to graduate from the Idaho POST Academy and pursue a law enforcement career where he was a police officer for many years.  He and Amy had three children together - Tyler Ashton, Tristan Adam, and Avery Alyssa Lykins.  Camping, hiking, and traveling always made great memories.  Trent loved his children with a fierce and protective love, cherishing every moment together.

Terrill Trent is survived by his mother, Christina Lykins, his sister, Randa Madrigal, his ex-wife Amy Lykins, and his children Tyler, Tristan, and Avery Lykins.  He will be missed very much.

A military burial will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Wednesday, February 28, at 3:00pm. Friends and family are welcome.
