Thomas 'Tom' Lochner
March 31, 1964 - Feb. 10, 2013
Thomas "Tom" Lochner, 48, died Sunday at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.
He was born in Salem to Allen and Nancy (Kaufman) Lochner.
Tom had an active mind and at a young age, he began to develop many interests. He loved geography and his grandmother gave him an atlas at age 7, which he continually studied and shared with his classmates.
He began to participate in sports in elementary school and especially loved basketball, football and baseball.
As a teenager, he followed Casey Kasem's Top 40 and could tell you about the history of numerous musical artists and songs. His zest for information continued throughout his life and he was the "go to man" for many topics of information, especially sports.
He dearly loved libraries and spent many hours there, reading and researching.
He is survived by his father and mother, Allen and Nancy Lochner of Albany; brother James and partner Spencer Hayes of Atlanta, Ga.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his chosen families and loved them all, including Cecilia, Chelsea, Sky and Alex Mihaylo; Sarah Young; and Sofia and Kylie Hyde, all of Albany.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in Sheridan. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the United Presbyterian Church in Albany.
Contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Society and SafeHaven in Albany.
