Thomas Allen Red
Nov. 30, 1924 - June 14, 2013
Thomas Allen Red, 88, of Brownsville passed away Friday evening at his home.
Thomas was born in San Diego, Calif., to James and Ada Red.
Thomas was discharged from the Navy on Jan. 11, 1946. He married LaVon Juanita Pepper in August 1947. They had three sons, David, Michael and Robert. The family moved to Springfield in 1963, then later that year to Brownsville. Tom had many jobs in California as a diesel mechanic, he also drove school bus for Central Linn School District for many years until he retired.
Tom liked to go camping; a favorite place was the Oregon Coast. He loved family get-togethers and he was always at the early morning Pioneer Picnic Pancake Breakfast. He truly enjoyed the parade. Tom was a senior citizen volunteer for years. He really enjoyed doing small jobs in his shop and liked visiting with people.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
Thomas is survived by sons David Red and wife Linda of Brownsville, and Bob of Springfield; grandchildren Mickey and Aaron Parvin of Albany, Curt Red of Eugene, and also by marriage, Tony and Tonja Lindbo of Eugene, Tiffany Henderson of Albany; great-grandchildren Breanna Lindbo, Cole Lindbo, Aaron Henderson, Colvin Parvin, and Damion Red.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LaVon Red in April 2012, and their son, Michael, in 1975.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at Brownsville Pioneer Cemetery in Brownsville.
