Obituary

Thomas H. Sears, 87, of Albany went to his Maker Tuesday at the Mennonite Home.

He was born in Cottage Grove. His family moved several times before settling in Corvallis. He graduated from Corvallis High School in 1942 and enlisted in the Marines and was attached to the 4th Division. He served from 1943 in World War II until his honorable discharge in 1946. He married Audrey Putnam on March 2, 1946, in Corvallis. Thomas worked for Sherwin Williams Paint Co. for a couple years before going to work for Pacific, Power & Light, being transferred several times with the company. He worked for PP&L for 32 years before retiring in 1983 in Kalispell, Mont.

Thomas enjoyed gardening, yard work, fishing, hunting and working in his shop. He was a member of the VFW in Springfield, Boys Scout leader in Yakima, Wash., member of Main Street Cowboys in Pendleton, and Lions Club member in Kalispell, Mont. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Audrey Sears of Albany; children Michael and Ruby Sears, Katie and Scott Perkins, Debo and James Richman, and Brenda Rowe; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Bertha Sears; sister Francis McFarland; and several aunts and uncles.

A graveside service for family will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, with a memorial service at 2 p.m. for friends and family at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Second and Madison in Albany.

Contributions in his name may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Evergreen Hospice. The family requests no flowers.
