VanRhea Anne SweeneyDecember 31, 1919 - December 17, 2008VanRhea Anne Sweeney, 88 of Albany, passed away Wednesday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.She was born in Pickett Prairie, Oklahoma the daughter of David A. and Hester A. (Harrison) Estel.  She was raised in Coachella, CA. and graduated from high school there.  VanRhea married Paul William Sweeney on June 21, 1937 in Yuma, Arizona and they resided in Freemont, CA.  She was a devoted wife and mother and worked for Bay Area Rapid Transit.  Paul preceded her in death in January of 1983 and she moved to Albany after she retired in 1985.VanRhea enjoyed taking classes at LBCC, crafts of many kinds, and most of all spending time with her family.She is survived by four daughters; Kathy Alexander of Etna, CA. , Patricia Dixon and Colleen Franzoia both of Albany, and Janet Sweeney of San Jose, CA.  Seven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son Michael Brian Sweeney and one grandchild.At her request no public services will be held.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society or Evergreen Hospice.  AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements.  ( www.aasum-dufour.com )
