Virginia Lydia KregerApril 18, 1926 - August 9, 2007Virginia Lydia Kreger, 81, of Scio passed away Thursday, August 9, 2007 at her home.She was born April 18, 1926 in Albany, Oregon the daughter of George A. and Pearl E. (Cooper) Eastman. Virginia was raised in Albany and graduated from Albany Union High School in 1944. She attended one year of Buisness College in Vancouver, WA., and worked for the Albany Democrat Herald from 1946 to 1947. Virginia married Loren H. Kreger at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Albany on April 27, 1947, and they have resided in the Albany, Jefferson, and Scio area since that time. Loren and Virginia owned and operated Day and Night Grocery in Albany from 1963 to 1968 and Kreger Korner Grocery in Scio from 1968 to 1976, when she retired to be a full time grandmother.Virginia loved being a grandmother and was very involved in her grandchildren's lives. She also enjoyed reading, working puzzles and sewing. She was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a current member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Albany.Virginia is survived by her husband of 60 years Loren H. Kreger of Scio; daughters Candance J. Pepperling of Caldwell, Idaho, Diane L. Kreger of Bend and Debbie A. Jackson of Scio; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and sister Lucille Maier of Troutdale. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, sister Verena Houghlum and half bother Ivin Lebold.Visitation will be Monday, August 13, from 1:00 to 7:00 P.M. at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Albany, with a reception to follow at the church. A graveside committal will be at 2:00 P.M.
