William Edgar Hobbs, 80, of Albany peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday at the Mennonite Home with those he loved by his side.
Bill was born to Lloyd Garrot Hobbs and Wilma Temple Hobbs in Goldendale, Wash. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1948 and lived and worked there for many years.
He was a journeyman machinist and co-owned Hobbs Machine Shop with his family and retired from Champion International in 1982. He moved to Albany with his family and worked for many years at Jenk's Hatchery in Tangent.
He married Joan C. Hanson on May 23, 1979. They recently celebrated 31 years of marriages. He was a member of First Assembly of God and loved to go to church with his family and spend time with close friends. He also enjoyed his computer, reading, and all electronics and especially his dog, Boomer. He had a dry whit.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Hobbs; son Dan Hanson; daughter Joni Killgore; grandsons Chris and Andrew; granddaughter Sarah; nephew Jim Hubbard and wife Linda; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Gayle and Lenore; and brothers Robert, Don, Dick and Bud.
A celebration of Bill's life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Albany First Assembly of God.
