William "Jay" VeitchMay 26, 1941 - Dec. 26, 2008Jay Veitch, 67, of Albany, passed away Friday at his home.He was born in Hannah, Wyo., the son of George "Herbert" and Margaret (Renny) Veitch. He was raised in Wyoming and attended schools there. Jay enlisted in the U.S. Air force in 1962, and after his discharge in 1966 received an education in computer programming and went to work as a programmer for Oregon State University. Jay met Colleen A. Donnelly in Corvallis and they married on June 8, 1974, in Reno, Nev. Jay continued his career at Oregon State until his retirement in 1998. He was an avid football and baseball fan and rooted for the O.S.U. Beavers, Oakland Raiders and the New York Yankees. Jay loved spending time with his family.He is survived by his wife Colleen Veitch of Albany; son Shawn Veitch, wife Wendy and grandchildren Billy and Alexis all of Yakima, Wash.; daughter Shelly Veitch, fiance Anthony Byrd and grandsons Mark and Lucas, all of Albany; and brothers Glen of Hannah, Wyo., Stuart of Utah, Ronnie of Illinois, and Keith of New York.
