Arlene Delaine Steckley was born in Oregon City, Oregon, on October 22, 1934, to Gabriel and Martha Samard. Arlene gained her angel wings Saturday, November 11, 2023.
She went to Maple Elementary School (K-5), Central Junior High and then went on to graduate from Union High School in 1952. Arlene worked at a "car hop" where she later met her husband, Leonard Steckley. They fell in love and married December 7th, 1952. They were married for 71 years and have 3 children together, Diane, Larry and Lori. Arlene was a loving and devoted wife, Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma. She loved to cook and clean and being with her family meant everything to her. She loved well and she was well loved.
She is survived by her husband Leonard Steckley, Sister in laws, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all who loved her dearly.
Her family would like to thank all of her amazing caregivers at the Albany Mennonite Village at Quail Run Assisted Living.
I MADE IT HOME
"I just wanted to let you know that I made it home. The journey wasn't an easy one, but it didn't take too long. Everything is so pretty here, so white, so fresh and new. I wish that you could close your eyes so you could see it too.
Please try not to be sad for me. Try to understand that angels are taking care of me... I'm in the shelter of their love, so there is no sadness, no sorrow and no pain. Here it is so peaceful when all the angels sing.
I really have to go for now... I've just got to try my wings."
