Gene Cordell, 71 of Albany, OR, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, in Millersberg, OR.

Gene was born in Watertown, SD to Richard and Jessie (Reed) Cordell. He grew up in Watertown, SD until 1959 when he was 8 years old and moved to Eugene, OR and he attended Willamette High School. He got his high school diploma while in the military. Gene worked at Lane Plywood as a teenager. Gene married Pat on January 10, 1970. He went into the military in February 1971.

While in the Army, he trained to be a diesel and auto mechanic. After training was completed he served in the 101st Air Borne in Vietnam. Once he returned to US soil, he served another eight years in the Army at various places such as Ft. Hood and also in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1979 at Ft. Polk, LA.

Gene is survived by Pat Cordell and their three daughters, Regenia, Candice and Brandice. Two son in laws, Shane and Darian, one daughter in law, Tammy, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren, sister Pam Ewalt and brother Robert Cordell.

Gene was proceeded in death by his parents Richard and Jessie, his sisters Linda Weltch and Virginia Seese.

A memorial service will be held on May 29, 2023, 2:00 pm, at Eastside Christian Church.
