Joel Boyd Care

Joel (Joe) Boyd Care, 80, formerly of Sweet Home, passed away October 25th 2023.

He was born on February 4th, 1943, in Sweet Home to William Boyd Care and Waunita (Brewer) Care.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman, poker player and construction business owner.  He built numerous homes, mills, and other commercial buildings throughout the Willamtte Valley. And later began building custom cabinets.

He married Carolyn Ann Putney on July 5th, 1963. They built their life in Sweet Home raising four children and welcoming eight Grandchildren. When their first Grandchild was born in 1987, Dad started the tradition of buying Christmas pajamas each year for each of the Grandkids and reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve after they changed into their pajamas.  That tradition will continue on. They enjoyed road trips and loved family gatherings.

He leaves behind his four children; Brenda Pace (Dennis) of Woodburn, Gail Gillespie (Chris) of Sweet Home, Ron Care (Vicki) of Albany, and Jolene Wines (Chris) of Medford. Grandchildren; Ashley and Hannah Pace, Shelbey and Caytlin Gillespie, Madison and Austin Care, Jake and Max Wines, a brother Raymon Care of Spokane Washington and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, his parents, his two sisters Mable Howard and Delores Philley, and brother Bill Toweill.

A memorial service will be held November 4th, 2023, at 1:00 PM

at the Sweet Home Community Chapel
