Judy Edna Brown

Judy Edna Brown, 67 of Albany, OR passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020, at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House after a 20+ year battle with cancer.  She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Judy was born in Des Moines, IA on June 19 to Cal and Betty Brown.  She attended Martensdale-St. Mary’s schools before getting her teaching degree from Upper Iowa University, where she was a member of the EYE.

She married and had children, making her home in Adel, IA.  She loved everything about being a mother; she even worked as a sorority house mother after her kids went to college.  She was “mom” to many of those that she loved and cared for throughout the years.

Later, Judy retired and moved to the mountains of North Carolina. She always felt at home in the Smoky Mountains and made many lifelong friends there.  In 2018, she moved to Oregon to be near her granddaughter.  She attended Neighborhood Church and made several fast friends in the short time she was here.

Some of her favorite things to do were scrapbook, visit any beach (especially Florida), and play with her dog.  She loved listening to a variety of music and traveled to many countries throughout her life.  But her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family.

Judy is survived and greatly missed by her kids - Kristin, Josh and Rachel Payton, and her beloved granddaughter Rebecca.  She will be lovingly remembered by dozens of cousins, her dearest friends, numerous honorary children/grandchildren, and her little beagle Gibbs.

A memorial service will be held in Iowa where she spent most of her life.  The date and time will be announced later.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society or the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House in Albany.  Or plant some daisies in her honor and bring a little sunshine into the world; just like she did.
