Karl B. Kreitzer

On June 18, 2020 Karl B. Kreitzer (Bill to most people he knew well) a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away at the age of 83 – just two weeks before his 84th birthday on July 3rd.

Bill was born in Dayton, Ohio to Andrew and Jeannette Kreitzer on July 3, 1936 and joined the United States Marine Corps July 1954 serving six years ending in May 1960.  His final duty station was Barstow, California Marine Corps Supply Center where he met and married his wife Frances (Graham) in February 1960.  He left the Marine Corps having attained the rank of Sergeant and having served in everything from amphibious vehicle units to Drill Instructor and Rifle marksmanship Instructor.

He graduated from Barstow Junior College June 1973 with an Associate of Science Degree after which the family moved to a small farm outside Scio, Oregon and he went on to graduate from Oregon State University in June of 1976 with a Bachelors Degree in Animal Science.  The family moved to Albany in 1978 after purchasing an Italian Restaurant. 

Bill was very proud of his service to his country and always loved to engage in conversation with former Marines and other former servicemen as well.  He had developed a love of the ocean during his service and always wanted to live close enough for quick visits at any time.

Bill is survived by wife of 60 years, Frances, son David and daughters Kathy and Marcia, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and great-granddaughter Kahlia. Brother Maurice passed in January 2021.
