Marshall Carlos Leeson passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Samaritan Albany Hospital in Albany.
Marshall was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Hazel and Howard Leeson. He grew up in Montana and Washington with his 11 brothers and sisters, moving to Albany in 1945.
He enlisted in the Army in 1946 and participated in the US occupation of Germany, in Berlin. He worked on the Berlin Air Lift with the 252nd Engineers Construction Battalion.
While in Germany, he met and married the love of his life, Eva Kloth. Marshall and Eva returned to Albany to raise their family in 1949, after his discharge from the Army.
Marshall worked as a carpenter at Teledyne Wah Chang in Albany for 34 years. He retired in 1990, allowing him to pursue the joy of camping, fishing and his love for the Alsea and Metolius Rivers and Odell Lake.
In his younger years, he enjoyed taking his boys hunting and fishing. His hobbies included gardening, woodworking, and taking care of the birds that found respite in his yard.
He was a member of Immanuel and Holy Cross Lutheran Churches.
Marshall is survived by his wife, Eva, of Albany; sons, Raymond (Rosanna) Leeson of Philomath, Harold (Karen) Leeson of Eugene, Ralph (Jennifer) Leeson of Albany, and Terry Leeson of Albany; grandchildren David (Joanna) Wright, Annabelle Leeson, Jeffery Leeson, Brian Leeson, Angi (Scott) Gould, Ryan Leeson, and Megan (Ryan) Lentz; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; many of his siblings; grandson, Jonathan Wright and great-grandson, Tucker Leeson.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, June 22 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church; 2515 Queen Ave. SE. A committal service with military honors will follow at Willamette Memorial Park.
