Sandra Turner Tribute

Sandra Sue (Ziesing) Turner

February 15, 1951 – May 27, 2018

Sandra “Sandy” Sue Turner, 67 of Albany, passed away at Evergreen Hospice House on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Her family was at her side.

Sandy was born February 15, 1951 in Portland to Arthur & Joyce (Ball) Ziesing. She was the youngest of 4 children. Sandy grew up primarily in the southern and central part of California in places like La Crescenta, Santa Rosa and eventually in Huntington Beach. She met the love of her life, Ernie Turner, at church. She was asking who the cute guy was on stage and wrangled a drive home by him. Her sights were set. They were married October 20, 1967 in Las Vegas, Nevada with Sandy’s sister Sherry and Ernie’s brother-in-law Ray Capps standing as witnesses.  They enjoyed nearly 51 years together. She was affectionally Ernie’s “Beaire”.

In 1970 they had their first daughter, Melinda. And in 1975 their 2nd daughter, Delvie.

Ernie and Sandy moved around California finally coming to Halsey, Oregon and settling with their family in the summer of 1980. They stayed and raised their girls there until April 2017 when they moved to Albany.

Sandy retired from the James River Paper Mill in Halsey after 20+ years. She left as a Head Adjuster and was very proud of her achievements. Sandy loved to travel, learn new things and spend time with her own fur baby or her grand fur babies. Many days were filled with her, Jayne and Jim Kief, friends to the whole family. Sandy was a person to “reckon” with. She spoke her mind and was not afraid to be right in the thick of things. She believed that you could be whatever you dreamed of and inspired her daughters and her many nieces to be strong and dream big. She was always a strong rock for any of them for anything.

Ernie and Sandy joined Grace Point Church in Albany and were active members. They have many friends and loved ones they actively enjoyed life with. Sandy loved being part of the secret sister program and just sharing from the heart. Her church and her faith were extremely important to her. Her time with Jayne doing bible study and praying with anyone she came into contact with always lifted her up. She also enjoyed going to the coloring through pain group each week with her daughter and just coloring and loving on those that came.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Sherry, and her brother Doug. She is survived by her loving husband Ernie; daughters and spouses Melinda & Tom Poirier; and Delvie and Aaron Turner, both of Albany; brother John (Sherry) Ziesing of Las Vegas, NV.; many nephew and nieces; great nephew and nieces; cousins and many loved ones.
