Jerrie Lee Crook, 75, went to meet her savior on Aug. 16.
Jerrie was born in Canton, Illinois, to Bradley and Evelyn Braden. She moved with her parents to Phoenix, Arizona, at a young age, and met her future husband while attending Phoenix Tech School. Jerrie married Franklin Crook on Sept. 21, 1954, moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, and started a family. In the early '60s, Frank, Jerrie and family moved to Roseburg and later to Albany where she resided until her death.
Jerrie was a co-director for the Eco Activist Recycling Center, served 10 years on the Albany Library Board, worked as a volunteer in schools before becoming a coordinator of volunteers for many years, and served as a nanny while running a day care center. She was also very active in the foreign exchange program, having hosted many students throughout the years, and ultimately became the district coordinator.
She loved to travel and visit her past exchange students. Her favorite destination was always Hawaii. Some of her hobbies were flea markets, garage sales, reading, collecting iron toys and e-mailing friends and family.
Jerrie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Frank, son Terry and daughter Peggy Davy, all of Albany; daughter Frankie Quinabo of Honolulu, Hawaii; brother Kenneth Braden of Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughters Jennifer of Albany, Sara of Hood River and Tracy of Parker, Florida; and great-grandchildren Abegayle and Kenny.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life service in her honor will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home.
