David S. Evan passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Timberwood Court in Albany, OR.

David was born October 18, 1937 in Minnesota Lake, MN to Stephen and Balbina (Maday) Evan.  He graduated from Minnesota Lake High School where he played basketball.  After graduation, David worked for Walter Stencel from 1955 to 1957.  He then enlisted in the Army and spent time at Fort Chaffee, AR and Fort Leonard Wood, MO.  He served in the 5th Eng. David was released in August of 1962 and moved to Salem, OR.  He did masonry work for three years and then went to work for the Oregon Highway Department.  It was at that time that he met Anna D. Schlyper.  They were married in July of 1966.

In 1968, David went to work at Oregon State University doing building maintenance and remodeling projects.  In 1970, he and Anna moved to Albany and built their home.  In 1992, he moved into a carpenter’s position at the university before retiring in June 1997.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife Anna Evan; brother-in-law Roger Giese of Newberg; sisters-in-law Irene Evan of MN, Joyce Evan of MN, Henry and Charmayne Schlyper of Bandon, OR, Albert Schliper and Lucy Jette of Aumsville OR, Omer and Debbie Schlyper of Klamath Falls, OR; children Matt and Eileen Evan of Redmond, OR, Maryann Evan and Rob Peacock of Albany, OR; grandchildren Matthew and Jacob Evan of Salt Lake, UT, Jeremy Evan of Denver, CO, Samantha Kreutzkamph of Albany, OR, and Darilyn Peacock of Albany, OR; as well as many nieces and nephews.  David also leaves behind many special friends as well as the caregivers at Timberwood Court.  The family would like to give a special thanks to Laura W. and neighbors.
