Andy, 72, of Scio passed away at home on Saturday from a long battle of health issues with loved ones by his side.
Andy was born to Andrew Lee and Ann Christine (Robins) Evans in Atchison, Kansas. As a child the family moved to Scio where he was raised and went to school. At one point he moved back to Kansas, and served time in the Army.
In 1965 he married the love of his life, Jeanie, had children and moved back to Scio area in 1968. He started work at Ormet then later at Wah Chang where he retired after 31 years.
Andy enjoyed the farm life, raising cattle, horseback riding on Snow Peak and rounding up wild horses in Eastern Oregon. He also enjoyed working on cars and small engines, hunting and fishing with the family.
Andy was a great man. The world is going to miss him.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bud and Denny; sister Anne Lee; son Michael; and beloved wife Jeanie.
He is survived by daughters Pamela Evans of Sweet Home and Kimberly Evans of Scio; sisters Dorothy SFerralza of Dallas, Donna Broyles of Albany, Rosemary Nollen of Marion, and Vivian Hamilton of Kansas; sisters-in-law Anita Evans of Kansas and Carol Evans of Baker City; many nieces and nephews; granddaughters NyVona and Misty Johnson; and great-grandkids Leighden, Persephanie, AdLeigh and Braxton.
The world is going to miss a wonderful man, you couldn't have asked for any better than him.
We are sure our mom and brother Mike are showing our dad all the great fishin' holes and he is keeping an eye on all the wild horses running across the country.
Always remember: "Can't be serious all the time," as dad would say.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 28, at Providence Cemetery in Scio with a family gathering at the farm to follow.
